The borough council has approved plans to purchase a new fire truck for the Friendship Fire Company, which has been under discussion for several years. The new vehicle, a Pierce rescue pumper from Glick Equipment, will replace the aging rescue truck currently in use.
Rodney Green explained the decision during the recent council meeting. He said that the fire company recently received a $1.3 million bid for the rescue pumper.
"The negative on it is it will take four years from the point that we pay for it to before we will have it here," Green said.
