The Seventh Annual Morrisons Cove Rotary Club and Dragon Pride Foundation Golf Outing was held on Friday, June 21 at Iron Masters Country Club. I recently re-read the late Jim Bashline’s “Night Fishing for Trout,” a fly-fishing book published in 1973. With hunters now purchasing their hunting licenses and their antlerless deer tags, it might be a good time to take a look at last year’s Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) harvest estimates. Based on a total of 134,000 harvest reports from Pennsylvania hunters, the PGC deer biologists have come up with a total harvest of 430,010 animals for the 2023-2024 deer-hunting seasons. Last weekend, a club soccer team based in the Cove traveled east to Wildwood, New Jersey to compete in their Beach Blast Sand Soccer Tournament. It was an open tournament hosted by the Cape Express Soccer Club, and hundreds of teams from the east coast were invited to come and play on the sandy beach. Next Monday, June 24, at 8:00 a.m., the first resident Pennsylvania antlerless deer hunting licenses go on sale in WMUs 1B, 2G, and 3A. There will probably be a rush for them, since antlerless licenses sell quickly in these WMUs. Morels, commonly called “mushrooms” in our area, are considered a delicacy.
