Ask the Williamsburgers

I recently went to Zmac’s Riverside Grill in Hollidaysburg with my mom and my friends to celebrate a friend’s birthday. On the menu, they had Barney sandwiches.

For those of you who don’t speak fluent Williamsburg – Barneys are roast beef sandwiches with melted provolone cheese served in a garlic bread blanket. Barney sandwiches were made famous by a number of Williamsburg residents – most notably, Louis Sotille of Louie’s Coral Lounge.

This lounge is where Suzanne, the lovely waitress, was serving these tasty sandwiches up to quite a handsome customer Rick.

I digress with my parent’s love story, but to continue our theme of love, I wanted to ask residents, where did you meet your spouse? Here is what a few had to say:

Kevin Wise: Corbin’s Island, Lake Raystown

Donna Oakes: Thunder in the Valley 2006

Stacy Feathers: We talked on Facebook for awhile and then finally met face to face at a Curve game.

James Flaig: The old gymnasium at WHS

David Flaig: The junkyard

David Shanholtz: At a party arranged by a mutual friend in Catharine Township.

Courtney Owen: Sam’s Club

Kim Shaffer: School Bus

Patty Shultz: On the Diamond in Hollidaysburg

Kelly Nunamaker: Fisher’s store in Clappertown

Ricci Michelone: We met in Miss Patterson’s Kindergarten class!

Jeffrey Schwaderer: At the Sizzler in town, back in 1986

Leslie Lower: When I moved to Williamsburg in the 8th Grade

Courtney Leidy: Logan Valley Mall, our besties were dating each other.

Bruce Estep: I met my wife in the Altoona Hospital; I was there for back surgery and she was my nurse’s aide. That was 50 years ago – what a lucky day!

Gracie Swindell: Church

Huston Godwin: Facebook then Texas Roadhouse

Melissa Baker: In the back of an ambulance

Unfortunately, Cupid’s arrow is still missing for my Mr. Right, but these stories are just romantic. I can’t wait to share for next week, too.
