Don Goebel Jr. Professes Publicly to Follow Jesus Christ

On Sunday Aug. 20, at 1:30 p.m. in this beautiful stream of located on Ski Gap Road a baptism took place.

Morrison Cove Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Aaron Musselman held a picnic at Brian and Michele Musselman’s home in Claysburg. A picnic lunch was served as well as games for the children. Afterward, close to 40 people made their way to a beautiful dammed up area of the stream.

“I was baptized as a child but I wanted to be baptized as an adult to profess my promise to follow Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior,” Don Goebel Jr. said.

Under maple trees with the sun shining through and on the water a church service was held. Songs such as “Shall We Gather At The River” and “When the Saints Go Marching In” were sung by the congregation with the accompaniment of a trumpet player.

Pastor Musselman waded into the water and read bible scripture to the congregation. He stated “ Baptism is the Act of obedience towards God. But, in many ways by doing this openly it’s a promise that other people keep us accountable.”

The pastor embraced Goebel and submerged him under the water to baptize him. The two embraced and the congregation clapped and congratulated Goebel.

After the service his children and the children of the congregation enjoyed wading into the water and enjoying this beautiful day and setting.
