Rebecca Furnace Property Serves as Resting Place for Some

One’s final resting place — often well-thought-out and viewed with respect and reverence — is overshadowed for a small number of Morrisons Cove residents by what was once a highly prized landmark that played a huge role in the growth of southern Blair and northern Bedford counties.

About six dozen people, young and old, are interred in a makeshift cemetery under the shadow of the Rebecca Furnace at the edge of a remote corn field three miles east of Martinsburg.
