The Woodbury community came together and celebrated the holiday season by lighting John Over's pine tree during an event Nov. 18. Though he has lit the tree for decades, this is the first year an official celebration took place.
A community's annual tree lighting was made even bigger thanks to the ambition of one woman.
Woodbury residents were welcomed to bring in the holidays with a night of fun held at the Woodbury Area Community Center from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. The night ended by lighting up the pine tree in John Over's yard across the street.
Over is now 97 years old and his tree has been the source of this tradition for decades, but there was never a big event surrounding it. In the past, local churches would carol through Woodbury, and the tree would be lit as they ended their singing at the communi...
