    The Northern Bedford County School District Board met Tuesday, Sept. 8, to discuss monthly school business. As part of this meeting much discussion was given to a number of issues. One such topic was the revision of a custodial job description. Changes were made in the number of days that the person(s) who will fill this position will work.     The Northern Bedford School Board met to discuss monthly business issues on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020.     The Northern Bedford County School District Board met Tuesday, June 16, for an in-person meeting. The board had several items of importance to discuss including approval of the 2020-21 school year calendar as well as the budget for the upcoming school year. The final general fund budget for 2020-21 was approved in the amount of $14,157,564. Revenues for the same year are expected to be $13,574,535.     The Northern Bedford School District met Tuesday May 12, via Zoom, a virtual meeting platform. A preliminary general fund budget was discussed and approved during this month’s meeting. Several measures were discussed, including the acceptance of a number of staff resignations and new hires.     The Northern Bedford School District held a school board meeting Tuesday Jan. 14, 2020, the first meeting of the new year. As part of the meeting, Jeff Koontz of Ritchey, Ritchey & Koontz, Bedford, presented the board members with audit findings for the 2018-19 school year.     The school board of Northern Bedford held an election of officers during its regularly scheduled, monthly board meeting on Tuesday, Dec 3. This election was made necessary by recent election results in which David Chisholm was replaced by Chris Cronrath. Chisholm has served on the board of Northern Bedford schools for eight years.   • Fire Destroys New Enterprise Barn

    Fire ripped through a Bedford County dairy barn on Monday evening. The alarm came in at a little after 7 p.m. and crews arrived to find the barn on the Paul and Janet Snyder farm on Snyder Creek Road, New Enterprise, fully engulfed. Several cows were killed in the blaze and several more had to be euthanized. Fire crews from Martinsburg, Roaring Spring, Saxton and Shawnee Valley assisted the Southern Cove Volunteer Fire Company at the scene.... Full story

    The Northern Bedford County School Board met Tuesday, June 18, with the major item on the agenda passage of the 2019-20 budget. According to the approved budget, NBC will be enacting a tax increase of 3.2 percent for the upcoming year.
