    On Nov. 16, the Northern Bedford FFA Chapter hosted a pig roast at Northern Bedford High School at 7 p.m. Hundreds of folks come out for this event held each year by FFA. Members of the chapter stayed up all night and cooked the pig to be served. The pig was donated, and everyone brought a side dish or dessert.     Sarah Barley, 8, visited the Herald office with her mother Erin to learn about newspapers and their production. Sarah is planning to start her own neighborhood newspaper in Roaring Spring. The third-grader is aiming for Jan. 10 as her first publication date. She sent out surveys to her neighbors for a "Neighbor Bios" section and said she thinks she would like a three-page paper.   • Fire Damages Freedom Township Home

    An afternoon fire in Freedom Township on Sunday, Nov. 26, brought a response from 10 fire departments and closed a portion of Dunnings Highway for several hours while firefighters battled the blaze. The initial call about the fire at 160 Benton Rd. indicated entrapment. Freedom Township Fire Chief Ron Henry said police officers from Greenfield and Freedom townships were able to remove the entrapped individual before firefighters arrived on scene.     The long-awaited Roaring Spring Dunkin' has officially opened. The Herald has not received word on Dunkin's neighbor, Arby's. Above, Emily Mowry restocks the display cases Monday afternoon. The business had its grand opening last Monday, Nov. 20. The location had a balloon arch out last week and saw plenty of customers.     In June of this year, Garver Memorial YMCA in Roaring Spring welcomed Roaring Spring native Lisa Bollinger as its new director. Bollinger has worked at the YMCA for 13 years and is already thriving in her new role. After attending Central High School and graduating from Penn State, Bollinger worked at NPC and Trinity United Methodist Preschool before joining the team at Garver as a preschool teacher in 2010. During the past 13 years, she has grown to cherish the "family" atmosphere at the YMCA....

    The Central Scarlet Dragon Football team faced the Hickory Hornets, the champion from District 10, and sadly came up short of a victory, suffering a 26-13 loss to end their season. The first half came with multiple interceptions by the Hickory defense, rendering the Dragon offense useless as their scoreboard was left at zero after the first half.
