Allegheny Pullers Visit New Enterprise for Benefit Event

The Allegheny Pullers had a show Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Southern Cove Power Reunion Grounds, New Enterprise.

This was a benefit pull with proceeds going to the Shriner Children's Hospital.

The Allegheny Pullers, based out of Chest Springs, Cambria County, schedule about 15 events a year. The Pullers started this year May 4 and will end on October 19 with their final points pull at Weakland's Track in Chest Springs.

The Pullers range in age from 6 to adults. There are 40 active members, and this is their 17th year. Community participation is accepted and welcomed.

Kathyrn Row, 6, from Spruce Creek, has been pulling for three years.

"I like to get trophies and I have a lot," she said. She pulls with a 128 16HP Cub Cadet.

Jacob Stover, 9, is from Warriors Mark and has been pulling for four years and also runs in the adult stock. "I just like doing it," he said.

Stover pulls with a 126 16HP Cub Cadette.

Fall Show Sept. 13-15

Nathan Hershberger, president of the Southern Cove Power Reunion, discussed the 29th annual fall show, which will be held Sept. 13-15 at the Southern Cove Power Reunion Grounds,

Camping will be available on the show grounds. There will be plenty of good food starting at 7 a.m. A chicken barbecue will be available at 11 a.m. Sept. 14 and Sept. 15. An all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. Sept. 15. Church services will start at 8:30 a.m. that day.

Activities for each day will be threshing grain, bailing straw, binder corn and chopped corn, tractor games and flea markets, sawmill, apple cider pressing, homemade apple butter, basket raffles and more. A tractor parade will begin at 1 p.m. each day.

Weigh-ins for the tractor pull Sept. 13 and Sept. 14 will be at 3 p.m. The pulls will begin at 5 p.m. each day. The antique tractor pull is Sept. 13 and the classic and farm stock pull is Sept. 14. A children's pedal pull will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 15.

A Ford tractor will be given away at the event and tickets may be purchased there. Also, there will be a basket raffle. Donations for the raffle are needed and appreciated.

Saturday, Oct. 12, will be the last tractor pull of the year at the show grounds. The weigh-ins will begin at 3 p.m.

Dogs are not permitted on the show grounds.
