ROBERT L. SALYARDS SR.

Robert L. Salyards, Sr. 85, of East Freedom, went home to be with the Lord Saturday evening, Oct. 26, 2019.

A funeral was held Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Vicksburg Grace Brethren Church. Pastor Sean McGill officiated.

Entombment was made in Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.

Robert was born Aug. 9, 1934, in Hollidaysburg, the son of the late Ralph and Mary (Leopold) Salyards.

He married Dorothy L. Edmundson Aug. 23, 1953. She preceded him in death Feb. 19, 2018.

Robert is survived by three children: Robin L. Salyards of East Freedom, Robert L. Salyards Jr. and wife Brenda of East Freedom and Rhoda L. Ellis and husband Dale of New Enterprise; five grandchildren: Kenton, Craig, Corey, Brittany and Sara; 14 great-grandchildren; two special "daughters": Georgia Lower and Jacquelyn Baker; and a sister, Margaret of Hollidaysburg.

Robert was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and retired from Imler's Poultry. He was previously employed at Ben L. May Excavating and The Meadows.

Robert was a member of Vicksburg Grace Brethren Church.

He enjoyed hunting and golfing and was a previous member of the Jaffa Shrine.
