Rs Boost Property Tax

Roaring Spring Borough boosted real estate taxes by two mills with the possibility it could drop by 4 1/2 mills by January. The end result of the move would be a $20,000 gain to balance the borough’s 2010 general fund budget.

Roaring Spring Council tentatively approved a budget that calls for 18 mills based on 75 percent valuation of property.

Among 1010 expenditures planned in the $155,067 police budget are purchase and installation of a second audiovisual camera to be placed in the 2005 police cruiser. An in car camera was provided for the newest police cruiser this fall through the Leah Hoover Memorial Fund.

Mathew Stanton, member of the Northern Bedford FFA won first place in the National Dairy Handlers Activity at Indianapolis, Ind. Stanton, 17, a senior at Everett Area High School who is enrolled in NB’s vocational agriculture program, placed first in dairy showmanship at Pennsylvania FFA Activities Week in June. He scored the highest of the 26 state representatives.
