Lady Pirates Win

The undefeated Williamsburg Lady Pirates basketball team won the Class A state championship at Hersheypark Arena. They defeated Marian Catholic 55-43. Jess Gordon led Williamsburg scorers with 21 points and Jess Lilly added 13. The team was coached by Jeff and Lois Appleman.

Work on the $8.1 million reconstruction project on Route 36 at McKee started again with a small crew. Work was expected to pick up as the weather improved. Work also started again on the Loysburg bypass project.

J. Robert Dauberman, 76, of Roaring Spring died from multiple injuries received from a farming accident.

Tina Walter was honored as “Fireman of the Year” by the Southern Cove Volunteer Fire Company. Mrs. Walter was honored for her fundraising efforts as well as for being the senior Emergency Medical Technician for the company.

Mrs. Mary B. Eckhard of Morrisons Cove Home passed away at the age of 100.
