Fire Chief Pleads Guilty

The former chief of the Friendship Fire company in Roaring Spring plead guilty to theft by unlawful taking and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds. He was placed on probation for ten years and ordered to pay restitution and court costs.

Wendell Gahagan, a retired social studies teacher, died on August 24, 2013 at the age of 69. Gahagan retired from Central High School in 2006, after 39 years of service. Linda Dodson, a math teacher at Everett High School for the past 29 years, also passed away on the same day at the age of 51.

The Loysburg Reformed Church was hosting a hymn sing for the Southern Morrisons Cove Community featuring singers from four neighboring churches–New Enterprise Church of the Brethren, Loysburg United Methodist Church, Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren, and Stonerstown Church of the Brethren. An offering would be collected to aid Teagan Imler, a local 6-year-old diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
