Girl Struck and Killed

A 14-year-old New Enterprise girl was struck and killed Sunday morning when she walked from the berm of Route 869 into the path of a truck. Hillary Dilling, daughter of Dr. Duane P. and Trudy G. Dilling was on her way to church when struck.

Don Imler, social studies teacher at Williamsburg High School, submitted his resignation to the school board at the August 18 meeting, creating a vacancy that could not be filled before the new school season started. Imler took a position in the Hollidaysburg school district..

Local officials met with Sen. Arlen Specter at the Blair County Airport to discuss the needs of the airport. The airport was seeking a provider to supply service to eastern destinations like Philadelphia and Washington D. C.

Improvements at the tennis courts at the Morrisons Cove Park were dedicated to the memory of the late Jerry Baker. He was the father of three girls who played tennis for Central High School.
