David Herman Long

David Herman Long, 79, of Claysburg, passed away Aug. 17, 2023, at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.

He was born Jan. 4, 1944, in Blue Knob; son of the late Robert and Adah (Hodgson) Long.

Dave was a tractor-trailer driver for more than 40 years, retiring in 2008 from Smith Transport. He enjoyed flea marketing, watching Steelers Games, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife and companion of more than 35 years, Shirley Frederick; step-son, Don Frederick of Roaring Spring; step-grandchildren: Brad Frederick and Cody Frederick (wife, Rachelle); step-greatgrandchild, Waylon Frederick; sister, Carolyn Deavor of Claysburg; and a brother, Robert Long of Gurnee, IL.

Dave was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Long of Duncansville; and a brother, Russell Long of Bowling Green, KY.

At the request of the deceased, no services will be held. Inurnment will be in Leamersville Cemetery.
