Borough Agrees on Use of Funds

Herald of Sept. 13, 1973

Martinsburg Borough Council agreed to use the borough’s revenue sharing funds for 1973-74 on a pick-up truck for road work and for sanitary and storm sewer work. The allocation of funds was $6,000 for a truck, $7,000 for sanitary sewers and $2,677 for storm sewers.

The Spring Cove School Board gave a vote of confidence to superintendent John M. Humberd by giving him a $1,000 salary increase, making his salary for the current school year $22,500.

Fire was burning for more than a week in a pile of bark and trash along Route 164 on Tussey Mountain east of Martiisnburg, and all efforts to extinguish the blaze failed. The Martinsburg Fire Company has poured over 10,000 gallons of water onto the fire, and the State Forests and Water Department workers have tried chemicals.

The Williamsburg Community Farm Show was expected to open this Monday and continue through Thursday at the Community Center in Robesons Extension.
