    Martinsburg Borough approved using American Rescue Plan funds to supply bonuses to active employees in good standing of $750 for full-time employees and $375 for the part-time secretary.   • Chimney Fire Strikes North Woodbury Twp. Home

    Fire struck a home at 529 Central High Road, North Woodbury Township, around 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5. The home is owned by Kevin and Lisa Smith. Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Company Chief Randy Acker said that the apparent cause was a cracked flue, which allowed heat to escape the chimney and ignite the home's structural wood.     A fire at a Freedom Township home on Friday evening, Dec. 2, displaced a family just weeks before Christmas. Fire crews were called to 261 Back Street in East Freedom at around 10 p.m. and arrived to find the double-wide fully involved. Freedom Township Fire Chief Ron Henry said crews had the fire under control within 15 minutes but stayed on the scene for about two hours to make sure all the hot spots were out.     The Spring Cove School District filled an open school board vacancy and elected a new board president at its Monday, Dec. 5 reorganization and regular meeting.
