Nason Foundation Accepting Scholarship Applications

The Nason Foundation, whose mission is to support the health and vitality of our community through financial support and education, is accepting applications for scholarships.

The Nason Foundation originally began offering scholarships in 1989 and did so until 2015. In 2018, the Nason Foundation once again started offering scholarships.

This scholarship has been established by the Nason Foundation to provide financial assistance to individuals being educated and trained in the healthcare field and attract them to career opportunities in the region. Specific programs eligible for the scholarship are physicians, Nursing, med tech, X-ray tech, physician’s assistant and other health-related fields.

The Nason Foundation will offer scholarships of at least $2,500 in the final year of school (healthcare-related schooling) attendance. Eligibility for scholarship monies will be based on successful completion of the preceding academic year.

If the recipient accepts and maintains employment in a medical field for more than one year in the Nason Foundation service area, an additional financial award may be given to the scholarship recipient.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Acceptance to the appropriate education/training program. Programs include physicians, nursing, med tech, X-ray tech, physician’s assistant, and other health-related fields.

2. Student is in good academic standing with at least a 3.0 GPA.

3. Maximum of one year remaining in academic program (healthcare-related program) at the time of completion of the application.

4. Demonstrates community involvement.

5. Recommendation by educational personnel.

6. Must be from the geographical service area of the Nason Foundation.

Application Process

1. Application may be obtained from the Nason Foundation or downloaded from web site (nasonfoundation.org).

2. Completed application and required documentation submitted to either by mail to Nason Foundation,1330 11th Ave., Altoona PA 16601 or via email: info@nasonfoundation.org.

3. A personal interview may be conducted. Final selection will be made by the Nason Foundation Scholarship Committee.

The Nason Foundation Board of Directors meets quarterly.

Applications are due the first of January, April, July and October annually.
