Amish Christmas Miracles Collection

Books to Borrow Williamsburg Public Library Recommends

This collection of heart-warming stories was chosen as a memorial for one of our treasured patrons, Charles “Charlie” Hauser. Known for his kindness, ability to spin a tale, and especially for his many years of service as the town’s barber, Charlie also loved to read. He supported the library for quite a few years and quite enjoyed reading stories involving the Amish community.

The “Amish Christmas Miracles Collection” contains 14 short stories by various authors including Jennifer Beckstrand, Mary Alford, and Kathleen Fuller. Each author has had their own experiences with the Amish and come from different backgrounds. The stories in this collection feature Amish communities from around the country and the customs, rules, and way of life may vary from one community to the next.

Some stories in the collection are: “The Heart’s Return” by Adina Senft, “The Christmas Fudge Miracle” by Susan Lantz Simpson, “The Amish Author’s Christmas” by Ashley Emma, and “Peanut Butter Christmas” by Jennifer Beckstrand.

In “Peanut Butter Christmas,” readers will come to know about a set of ornery twins, family, sisters, love, and a wish for a Christmas miracle. Can a set of young, unruly twins bring happiness back to a member of their community who has lost their light this Christmas? As the story builds, we meet two sisters, selling baked goods from their home. The twins especially love the donuts the sisters make and are excited every time they come to their house to buy their family’s peanut butter. The twins’ family is known for making the best peanut butter around.

Mischievous, naughty, and totally adorable, the twins reveal their loving and caring sides when they will go to great lengths to heal one of the sisters’ broken hearts by giving away the Christmas miracle they’ve asked for. They know they aren’t supposed to ask for gifts from Santa, but they’ve made their lists anyway, hoping their mamm won’t find out. Will they get their presents from Santa? Perhaps a dog, or a bicycle? A whole cake just for them? Or, maybe they will get their Christmas miracle.

Some authors include links to free e-books at the end of their stories and a link to a free e-cookbook of Amish recipes is included as well.

These feel-good stories will touch your soul this holiday season. Check it out today at the Williamsburg Public Library for some soul-soothing, heart-touching relaxing reading for the holidays.

“Freulich Kristag!” or Happy Christmas!
